Today's discussion is about music for funerals. Sometimes the things used in the funerals and memorials don't fit with how a person was in real life. Especially music. So to coincide with the release of our new album Now, That's What I Call a Funeral our question to you today is what song would you like played at your funeral? It can be happy, sad, funny, dirty, religious or secular, it doesn't matter, as long as it is what you would like. Post a comment below.
lovesitposh54 says; my song would be something completely heart wrenching like the blowers daughter by damien rice or googbye my lover by james blunt. (or anything sadder) i would like people to cry and the sadness of the songs to envoke thoughts of me in their minds, then after they've all had a good cry, at the party they'd talk about all the good things they liked about me, and the good times....so its not all sad.
jerseylady says; I'd like the bay city rollers "bye bye baby" accompanied by a slideshow of me looking fabulous and fun so people are thinking of what I was like rather than just that I'm dead. I would like "my way" played at some point too. And I don't want a priest saying anything about me, I want the people who knew and loved me best to speak about me. I also don't want prayers of the faithful I want my favourite qoutes read out instead. I would like everyone to wear a peonie rose as they're my favourite and don't anyone put red roses on me or I'll haunt you. Also, dont want a yukky old brown shiny coffin, want it sprayed white and everyone has to write on it or draw something nice or rude or whatever, if you'd have done it it me when I was alive then do it. I want everyone to have a laugh and celebrate my life on the day.
lorrainium says; most definately Jitter bug, by wham!
I always have a wee sing of it when I need picking up and it never fails to make me smile. On a seriouser note cos it will be in a church and all id like a hymn called To Do your Will, its lovely.
leitrimisgreat16 says; wud hav 2b "yeke yeke" by mory kante cos one of the best tracks of all time and reminds me of loadsa gr8 times partyin hard in my youth!! wud remind loadsa people of those times and make em happy. theres absolutely NO WAY that SAD, meloncholic music is bein played at my funeral, funerals are sad enuff with out all that shit and im generally not a sad person. and after the funeral id prefer it 2b remembered for an upbeat tune not a suicidal1. basically sad songs make u unhappy and happy songs make u smile so i wanna giv the peeps in attendance a reason to smile in a sad situation!!! BIG LOVE
ROLO69 says; Gotta be "Thubthumpin' by Chumbawamba. i get knocked down, but i get up again, your never gonna keep me down! |
